I’m Amanda, the artist behind Jane Harvey Studios. I’ve lived in Yorkshire all my life, and the landscape here is at the heart of everything I paint. I’m drawn to the way colour, weather, and light can completely change the mood of a place — how clouds can shift in a moment, and how that change makes you feel.
 

I came to painting because I wanted a way to express myself. I love the emotional connection a painting can create, and that’s what guides me every time I pick up a brush. I work with quick, expressive strokes to capture the energy of a scene, and then spend time refining it. Knowing when to stop is always the challenge — there’s always a part of me that wants to add or adjust something — but the emotion is what tells me when it’s finished.
 

Whether it’s a stormy sky, a quiet path, or a familiar view, my aim is to paint the atmosphere of a moment, not just the scene itself.
